Countdown 2010 was officially closed at a dedicated event in Nagoya, Japan, at the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity summit. The Countdown 2010 event took place on 20 October at 20:10 in the presence of partners and supporters, as well as senior representatives from IUCN, the CBD Secretariat and other biodiversity organizations.

A new initiative starting in 2011 was announced at the event. Existing Countdown 2010 partners will be invited to join the new initiative. More detailed information will follow.

On 7 December the IUCN European Union Representative Office in Brussels will host a short event to celebrate the end of the initiative. Check this website to be updated with more information.

Please note: From 20 October 2010 the Countdown 2010 Secretariat is officially closed. Organizations interested in joining the new initiative should please get in contact with IUCN at the beginning of 2011 at office@countdown2010.net. Please note that no Declarations for the current initiative will be accepted any longer. See you in 2011!
