Countdown 2010 is looking for an intern!

With Countdown 2010 you can. Biodiversity is at the heart of our activities, and more than 700 partners from all over the world work with us to halt its loss. Hosted by the Regional Office for Europe of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), the initiative reaches out to ministries and local authorities, non-governmental organizations and private sector. In next few months we face great challenges and opportunities, such as the upcoming World Conservation Congress in October. We would like to better engage our partners in Countdown 2010’s work and anchor biodiversity as an important issue in the public’s perception. All this increases the administrative burden on us all.

Your role:
You work closely with Countdown 2010’s Deputy Head in order to help the smooth and efficient operations of our office. In particular, you will manage contacts with Countdown 2010 partners and will be in charge of updating the partners’ database. You will also have an important task in financial administration, filing, organizing travel and managing correspondence. Finally, you will also assist Countdown 2010 colleagues with background research and presentations for events. From time to time, you will help with the development of project proposals, the organization of events and other communication-related activities.

Your profile:
* You are interested in nature conservation issues

• You are very organized and reliable

• You have a basic understanding of financial administration

• You like working in an office structure and do understand the importance of administration

• You are able to work independently

• You are fluent in English, any other language is an asset

• You are at ease with MS Office

• You have EU citizenship and are registered as student for the duration of the internship

What do we offer?
We offer a six-month internship in Brussels, in a multi-cultural dynamic working environment starting as soon as possible. Interns receive an allowance of 600 EUR/month.
