Help biodiversity – plant a tree

Help biodiversity – plant a tree

Welcome students! Welcome youngsters! Welcome teachers!

Join The Green Wave with your teacher, class or school club. It’s a fun and easy way to cooperate with other children and youth around the world in helping biodiversity.

To link your school’s Green Wave tree planting activities with the 2008 International Biodiversity Day theme, consider planting a tree that is currently used for agriculture, or was used for agriculture at some point in the past. Consider planting a traditional variety of a fruit, nut or spice tree. Alternatively, your group might plant a tree used in a traditional local farming system.

Then, people around the world can view your school’s Green Wave tree on the Google map.

The Green Wave is a multi-year campaign to raise awareness about biodiversity in general, and the 2010 biodiversity target in particular, that contributes to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) programme of work on Communication, Education and Public Awareness.
