Niedersächsiche Landesforesten joins Countdown 2010

The Lower Saxony State Forests, Germany, signed the Countdown 2010 Declaration last Saturday, April 19th. The signing cermony was linked to a tree-planting event and it took place in the woods outside Hannover.

“Forest management is an important aspect of biodiversity conservation”, commented Mr. Yves de Soye, who was attending the ceremony on behalf of Countdown 2010 from the IUCN Regional Office of Europe. “Therefore,” he continued, “it is with great pleasure that we welcome our new partners”.

Dr. Klaus Merker, President of the Lower Saxony State Forests, signed the Declaration. He is depicted with Mr de Soye at the table set up in the forest.
