Photographers reveal the natural heritage of Europe
Today, the day before Europe Day, Wild Wonders of Europe launches the Great Wild Quest initiative on nature communication.
55 of Europe’s top nature photographers embark on a mission to reveal the amazing natural heritage of Europe and to inspire a desire to save it. 90 assignments to 44 countries are foreseen.
“It’s all about love and passion.“comments Staffan Widstrand, who is a photographer as well as the Wild Wonders of Europe Managing Director. “We want to touch the emotions of our 700 million fellow Europeans and to re-connect them with their Natural Heritage.”
The initiative will provide an opportunity to celebrate the comeback of Europe’s wildlife and the little-known Natura 2000 conservation effort. The objective is also to spotlight some serious challenges for Europe’s biodiversity.
Wild Wonders of Europe, which is possible thanks to the partnership with high-quality businesses, organisations and public agencies, will provide a few answers to the deeper question “What is Europe?”
“We fully support this unique initiative. It aims at strengthening our affinity and association with our natural richness and diversity, and at recognising our nature and landscape as part of the defining elements of European identity.“Says Ladislav Miko,
Biodiversity Director at the European Commission.
