China Wildlife Conservation Association

Founded in December 1983, China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA) is a nationwide non-profit organization. The standing body is the secretariat.

The mission of CWCA is to promote sustainable development of wildlife resources in China. Its key responsibilities are promotion of public awareness of wildlife conservation; conducting national and international academic exchanges and scientific research, and the execution of international cooperative programs on wildlife conservation. CWCA has become a National NGO member of the IUCN – World Conservation Union since 1984. As of the end of 2006, there are 31 provincial level and 699 regional level wildlife conservation associations formed within China representing over 240,000 members.
