Fauna & Flora International (FFI) acts to conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science compatible with human needs. Founded in 1903, we currently work in partnership with locally-based organizations in over 40 countries. FFI China Programme operates in Guangxi, Sichuan, Qinghai, Guizhou, Yunnan and Chongqing is planning new activities elsewhere in China.
Our approach:
FFI works through partnerships, building or supporting local capacity to address priority conservation needs, often in areas, or for species, neglected by other organizations. We provide practical support for activities such as protected area management, land use, biodiversity surveys and monitoring, patrols, habitat restoration, awareness raising, stakeholder dialogue and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods.
Examples of our work
- Reversing the dramatic decline of southwest China’s endangered primates.
- Preventing gems magnolias extinction in Yunnan.
- Supporting sustainable grassland ecosystem management by Tibetan herder groups
- Supporting appropriate karst ecosystem management in Guangxi.
- Helping the regional biodiversity conservation strategy action plan
