The main objective of the Royal Dutch Society for Natural History (KNNV), also stated in the articles of the society is the study and conservation of nature. Since its foundation the society has endeavoured to protect biodiversity within the Netherlands as well as abroad. The society aims to realize its purposes by means of publications, lectures, excursions, courses and local or nation-wide inventarisation projects.
